The Town of Calhoun City is located in Calhoun County, Mississippi, and serves as a center of activity and commerce for area residents and visitors. Calhoun City is located approximately 40 miles south of Oxford, 50 miles southwest of Tupelo, and 65 miles northwest of Starkville. State Highways 8 and 9 intersect within the heart of the community and provide reliable access to an from the municipality. Calhoun City hosts several events throughout the year that highlight the community. Octoberfest is held on the square at the end of October and includes costume contests, vendors, trunk-or-treat, and other fun activities for residents and visitors. The City Sidewalks Celebration is another popular event involving an open house and the auctioning of Christmas trees, wreaths, and art work. The Christmas Parade also takes place during the holiday season and includes door prizes, pictures with Santa on the gazebo, and the annual "Spirit of Giving" promotion.
SquareFest is another popular annual event that is held on the last Saturday of May, with preliminary activities taking place the night before. The event involves arts and crafts vendors, food, music, and fun while providing an excellent opportunity to come together to celebrate the community.
Finally, the community’s farmers’ market is open every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from June through September. The market features fresh produce as well as other locally-produced items.
